Premier RIo Launched

Premier Motors(the company that originally had a joint venture with Fiat) has now forayed again into the automobile segement with their latest launch the Rio. The Rio is India's first small SUV to be scaled at 3.9 m in length, 1.5m in width and 1.6m in height. This SUV is being tipped to be the SUV that India has been waiting for.

It sports a Peugeot TUD5 1.5 L diesel engine that generates 65bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. The Rio has 3 variants priced between Rs 5.25 lakhs to Rs 5.95 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Pune).

SX4 Production halted

Maruti Suzuki has temporarily halted the production of the SX4 to make some changes to it which include compliance with Bharat Stage 4 emission norms and an increase in the torque 20-30Nm. The Sx4 seems to be on the decline with more and more pressure from the Honda City. Seems like Maruti has realized that its time for a mid life tweak to keep the SX4 on the playing field.

What the SX4 needs is the 1.9 litre crdi engine from Fiat, that should certainly get it some strong market share. Lets hope the Maruti folks are listening.
